ARTISTS STATEMENT

I currently make abstract paintings that are open to interpretation. I’m not trying to tell a specific story or direct the viewer towards a single meaning. Instead, I want each person to respond in their own way and form their own interpretation of what they see.

My background in architecture influences how I approach composition. Even when the work looks loose or spontaneous, there is an underlying structure and attention to space, proportion and placement. I also work with non-traditional painting tools alongside brushes. My process incorporates construction and architectural methods, which leads me to apply paint in a more physical and layered way—building, scraping and shifting surfaces rather than simply painting them.

Living in London for 15 years also had a strong impact on my work. Graffiti and street art, where layers of paint build up over time, inform my approach to abstraction. I’m drawn to the way these surfaces evolve, with marks partially hidden, reworked or left behind.
